Donation Policy

The Greenwood Public Library accepts donations of gently used books, DVDs, CDs, board games and more. Please see our acceptance guidelines below. Donations may be placed into the Library’s collection, or sold in the book sale to fund new books for the Library.

Book donations are accepted at the Library from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.

Please bring donated items into the library during business hours.

DO NOT leave items outside of the building, or in the lobby.

Due to space limitations, only 25 items may be donated from one person at any given time.


We accept:

  • Children’s books
  • Hardcover fiction and nonfiction
  • Mass market paperbacks
  • CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs
  • Audio books
  • Video games
  • Board games
  • Puzzles

We DO NOT accept:

  • Books that are over 5 years old
  • Any items that do not meet the Condition Requirements listed below
  • Activity books and workbooks (ex: coloring books)
  • Annuals and yearbooks
  • Audio cassettes, VHS tapes, LP records, or computer software
  • Britannica and World Books encyclopedia
  • Free copies, examination copies, or Advanced Reading copies

Staff members are allowed to deny donations at their own discretion.


Condition Requirements

Books must be free of mildew, mold, and dirt. They should not exhibit excessive spine damage, have missing pages, or be missing their covers.

Books cannot have water damage.

No part of the book’s pages should be removed with scissors or razor blades.

For media, puzzles, and games, sets must be complete and cannot be missing the original case art.
