The Bound By Books Discussion Group
Do you enjoy reading? Do you spend time talking with friends and family about the books you have read? Then come join us at the Bound by Books Discussion Group! The group usually meets the second Tuesday of each month, unless changed due to a holiday, at 6:30pm in the library meeting room. Books are selected by the library staff with recommendations and suggestions from the group members. Discussions are casual and enjoyable for everyone.
A program that focuses on reminiscing topics such as Fun and Games, Springtime, The Fifties, and many more. Life Smatters sessions with the Greenwood CHEER group includes slide shows, poetry, songs, and lively discussion. Open to CHEER members and all seniors. Contact Robin for more information.
Yearly Events & Special Activities
The Summer Reading Program
A 10-week program from June to August that encourages adults to read. It is open to anyone 18 years and older or those who have graduated from high school. To participate, simply register at the Greenwood Library and start reading or listening to your favorite books.
An evening of Christmas Caroling
Held every December. Families gather at the Country Rest Home, sing for the residents, and then share refreshments with them, providing their own home baked goodies.
Art or Craft Nights for adults and families.
During past events we’ve decorated tote bags, made Christmas wreaths, snowmen, painted with watercolors, made mixed media art, and Easter decorations. Art or craft nights are held throughout the year.
Besides our ongoing sale at the library, we hold one special sale at the beginning of the year. Starting just after New Year’s Day, we sell our oldest year magazines (During the January 2012 sale, we sold the 2010 back issues of our subscriptions) along with many books, audiobooks, DVDs, and CDs. We also have a few pop-up book sales through the year so keep an eye out when you come in!
